What is the the "lite" tent?

This is a simple device I constructed to help evenly light highly reflective objects. I put up this page to help out my fellow members of the Yahoo CoolPix group who were curious about the details of one of my responses to a recent posting asking about product photography.

The tent is constructed of PVC tubing, foam core and some inexpensive tungsten lights.

The tent is not perfect, neither is this page--it was put together quite quickly. But the idea may help some of you out. Please let me know if this helps you out or if you think that this may be a marketable idea in some way.

Above, T-fittings, clips and a crossbar hold the seamless background paper.

The author working with the light tent. Two lights bounced off the "tent" provide the primary lighting. A smaller light with a frosted gel serves as a soft key light

Right angle elbows serve as feet. More clips hold the background paper down.

Oblique angle elbows position the foam core reflecting surfaces. They are secured with nylon wire-ties.

The setups allows for the photography of highly reflective objects with a minimum of reflection and glare.

My key light is actually a clip-on shop light from a hardware store, equipped with a photo-quality bulb and a frosted gel diffuser.
